Hummingbird Zipline Course at The Wharf

Oct 3, 2016
As I am not sure I can put it any better, I am using the recent post from Gulf Adventure Center's Facebook page for this update:
"Sad news-
Earlier today Gulf State Park removed all of OUR signage from the park and removed us from thei website. While we were halfway through a fully booked morning tour, Gulf State Park superintendent and enforcement officers arrived at out office at DCNR's behest to demand that we shut down our operations and cancel any remaining bookings for the day and future. We spent the rest of the day greeting visitors in our office to inform them that we could not fulfill their requests to "ZIP THE GULF" any longer. One couple who we had to turn away were looking to celebrate their 40th anniversary, and another fellow had driven all the way from Gulfport just to zip!
We have requested a mediation date with Alabama's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to discuss their reasons for shutting us down, so that we could hopefully continue to accomodate heavy demand for fall zip tours. It was our hope that they would allow us to remain open until they at least sat down with us at this mediation date to explain their closure. We will continue to fight to have this decision reversed so that we can provide first class experiences and memories to visitors, while generating revenue and taxes for the park, city of Gulf Shores and the State of Alabama.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout this struggle. Your comments and well wishes have certainly warmed our hearts, and we are forever grateful.
It is an especially sad day for our permanent staff, who lose their livelihoodas well as a place that we have all come to cherish. From Corey, Kyle, Chase, Karen, Frito, Ashlyn, Tori, Brandon, Tom and Christy, and all our seasonal and past employees---THANK YOU for making us the number 1 outdoor attraction on the Gulf Coast. It's been a heck of a ride.
We will continue to provide updates on our situation as we find out more. "
PLEASE continue to share the petition with EVERYONE you know. We have not given up on keeping GAC open and providing wonderful memories for families and friends.
