Gulf State Park Project

So, since I have been studying the "Master Plan" for the Gulf State Park Project I thought I'd share some interesting details with our supporters. The 220 page "Master Plan" clearly calls for "relocating" the zipline to the current Golf Course as part of the coversion of that area to the Adventure Park. In addition to the closure of the golf course and the relocation of the zipline, there is a planned addition of a aerial park/ropes course. (A previously planned addition to Gulf Adventure Center). In addition to the NUMEROUS entries regarding RELOCATING the zipline, Gulf Adventure Center reappears by name on page 66 titled "Modeling economic impact: Sasaki's Smart Park". I quote: " Recommendations of this Mater Plan have been informed by economic analysis, ensuring recommended uses are good decisions economically. Smart Park is a tool that our team developed and used to support decision-making." The content goes on to include how and why Smart Park was developed to allow designers and planners to see the cost and visitor impacts of each design and program change. One of the conclusions states: " The analysis also made it clear that PARTNERSHIPS WITH THIRD PARTY VENDORS (LIKE GULF ADVENTURE CENTER) can be a key low risk component to enhancing the park experience without requiring expansion of park staff and park budgets." So, with that being said, how can anyone claim that they are not sure about the future desire for or location of the zipline? GAC has obviously been a great partner providing a much needed injection of money into Gulf State Park. I wonder if they read the "Master Plan". Again, thanks for the continued support. Christy
