Game 5 of ALDS: #OpenTheDome
This petition had 24,510 supporters
The Toronto Blue Jays have made the postseason for the first time in 22 years. They are now heading into Game 5 of the ALDS and the retractable roof of the Rogers Centre (Skydome) will be closed. The decision to open it during playoffs does not come from the team, stadium owner (Rogers), or anyone else other than the MLB. The rule states: For all games in the postseason (Division Series, League Championship Series, World Series), the Commissioner or his designee shall make all decisions regarding roof/wall panel movement, in consultation with the home Club and the umpire crew chief.
Now, there have already been some iffy calls made by the umpires in this series, so their opinions shouldn't be given too much credit. Weather permitting, the Toronto Blue Jays should be allowed to play with the roof of their stadium open.
We obviously can't control the weather in Toronto tomorrow, but the MLB Ground Rules for the Rogers Centre and the Rogers Centre Roof Operation Guidelines state that the roof is kept closed if it's less than 10 degrees or with a high risk of rain; neither of those conditions are in the forecast for tomorrow's game!
In 2015's regular season, the Blue Jays won 38 times and lost 14 when the dome was open. When it was closed, they won 11 and lost 14. Let's give them all the support we can and get the dome opened up for Wednesday!
With enough support, this petition will be passed on to Major League Baseball, for Rob Manfred's review.
