We are the residents of New Boston and Huron Charter Township who rely on Clark and South Huron Roads for our daily commute to work, school, and other essential activities. Unfortunately, these roads are in poor condition, and their deteriorating state is causing significant problems for our community.

Just days ago, a bus carrying elementary students—including my own children—went into a ditch after the dirt road beneath it collapsed. While we are incredibly grateful no one was seriously hurt, this incident is a frightening reminder of how dangerous these roads have become. Next time, we may not be so lucky.

We are calling on local officials in New Boston, Huron Charter Township, and the Wayne County Road Commission to prioritize paving Clark and/or South Huron Roads. Improving these roads will not only increase safety for families and children but also reduce the ongoing financial burden caused by vehicle damage and constant repairs.

Our community deserves safe, reliable roads. This is not just about convenience—it’s about protecting our families.
