Petioners, the RivCo Board of Supervisors will be voting next Tuesday the 18th on what we are being told will be the final version of STR Ordinance 927.1. Since our Town Hall Meeting October 3rd progress has been made on many of the issues we deem important to our neighborhoods but we are still facing opposition from the vacation renters owners group (VRON). It is therefore important that you send one more email to the supervisors before next Tuesday. 

WHAT WE ARE ASKING/WHAT WE NEED: 

-An 8 to 10%  CAP on the total number of STR’s in the 92549 zip code. 

-A 300-500’ density limit radius to ensure that the number of STR’s in any given area is not overwhelming a particular neighborhood. 

-An extension of the 45 day moratorium now in place on the issuance of any new STR’s until a CAP and density policy is approved and in place. 

-Physical Inspections. Due to the unique fire risks we face in the mountain communities all operating STR’s should be subject to annual physical inspections including certification of proper insurance. This should not be a difficult policy for the Board to support. STR’s are already classified by the county as commercial lodging establishments for the collection of taxes.

Presently RivCo requires annual inspections for all motels, hotels, camps, dorms, apartments, etc. Requiring the same of operating STR's which are open year round for lodging to the general public is only logical. Our community’s health, safety and welfare is at stake.
