Petitoners, we have found that this meeting will be structured as a "listening session" with representatives of the planning department, Supervisor's offices, etc. sitting behind tables wanting to hear from the community. That will be the first hour. The second hour will be an opportunity to speak directly with the supervisors and have them listen to what we would like to see implemented in terms of a total CAP on STR's in our community and our thoughts about addressing the abundance of STR's concentrated in certain neighborhoods (i.e., density).
Thus, the talking points we feel would be most productive for them to hear are as follows:
A 10% CAP on the total number of STR's in our community. With approximately 3,900 housing units this would mean no more than 390 at any one time.
Density: to protect our neighborhoods from being overrun we propose that there be no more than one STR within a 300 foot radius of one another. Thus, if there is an STR at 100 Main Street the next closest STR that could be approved and operating would be no closer than 300' from the existing one in any direction.
Extension of the current 45 day moratorium: As you may know during their last meeting the Supervisors voted for a 45 day moratorium on the issuance of any new STR permits in our mountain communities and Temecula wine country to specifically address the issues of a cap and density. This is set to expire in about 30 days. Therefore we would like to see it extended until a cap and density policy is voted on and in place.
Thank-you,
