Right to safety and protection away from abusive parents

The issue

Sara Sharif, a 10-year-old girl, was discovered dead in her family's residence in Woking, Surrey, England, on August 10th, 2024. Her tragic death was a result of a brutal campaign of abuse carried out by her father, Urfan Sharif, and stepmother, Beinash Batool.

Sara's life was filled with violence and torture, and despite the abuse being reported, the system failed to protect her. Social services were aware of the allegations but did not intervene in time to save her life.

The horrific abuse included Sara being hooded, burned, and beaten for more before her body was discovered with dozens of injuries at her family's home. Urfan Sharif and Beinash Batool fled to Pakistan after killing Sara but were arrested upon their return to the United Kingdom.

In November 2024, Urfan Sharif admitted to Sara's murder, and both he and Beinash Batool were found guilty of her killing. This tragic case highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable children and the need for the system to act swiftly and decisively when allegations of abuse are reported.

Sara Sharif's story is a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating consequences of abuse and the lasting impact it has on families and communities. We must learn from her story and work together to create a safer, more protective environment for all children. So please I ask you to sign this petition and hold abusive parents accountable for their crimes
