Update - Why Freedom of Information Law Matters!

Why are citizens expected to wait up to five months for responses to Freedom of Information requests — especially when police reports are involved?

We’re seeing this: Survivors are told “approximately five months” just to get a response about their own report.

Timely access to records is vital. Some cases depend on it. Without it, a fair trial may not be possible. These delays risk creating unfair trials.

We’re seeing the same pattern in both NY and the UK, where access to information is being deliberately denied and withheld.

Same pattern. Same fight. We’ve decided to escalate the matter here in NY. We’re reaching out to the Mayor of NYC and the Police Commissioner as we take the necessary steps to escalate. Lives and homes are at stake.
