The Issue

The North York Moors National Park Authority is applying for permission to redevelop the Old Vicarage on Bondgate as residential accommodation for open market sale; including demolition and reconstruction of the current rear extension.

Helmsley Town Council and concerned local residents have requested that the frequently used pedestrian access route from Carlton Rd to Bondgate be designated as a public Right of Way before the site is sold  and kept open during and after the proposed development  so that local people , including the elderly,  disabled and parents with children,  do not lose their only safe access to the town centre, the school and the medical centre given the heavy traffic use and potholes on the adjacent Black Swan Lane- and the footpath is also a key access route to popular walks in and around the National Park .

The National Park Authority has  not yet confirmed that the route will be designated as a public Right of Way so that local people have continued access to these essential facilities and so that our beautiful National Park remains open and fully accessible to all.

Please will you help to make this happen by signing below?

Flyers, posters and Right of Way user evidence forms for completion by the general public can be  accessed via the campaign updates below or  by emailing me on plato521@live.co.uk

Forms should be returned to the following address;
