4/6/23 St. Croix, USVI - JFK Housing Residents, Juanita Gardine teachers and students, Pueblo shoppers, Doctors, patients, homeowners, and commuters in the Golden Rock, and Little Princess neighborhoods are facing a potentially dangerous community impact.

VI Senators will be voting next week on Bill No. 35-0023, ZAC-22-14, a request for a zoning change in the Golden Rock area to allow for the manufacture of concrete blocks. This activity is only permitted in industrial zoning districts, not in residential or business areas. 

Health risks from the manufacturing and transporting of heavy concrete materials through a busy intersection with nearby gas stations, housing, food shopping, health services, and an Elementary School are serious. The Dept. of Planning and Natural Resources, local doctors, residents, and concerned citizens do NOT support this requested change.

Let our Senators and Governor know that we DO support locally manufactured concrete blocks in the industrial area of the island where appropriate zoning is already in place. Let’s help this business do the right thing, in the right place, before more money is spent on an improper site without the correct permits and before more hazards are created for our community.

The vote may be as soon as this Thursday, April 13, 2023! Please sign this petition and share it with others to stop spot-rezoning and keep industrial manufacturing in areas already permitted for it.
