The Issue

Having watched the BBC programme 'Dangerous Dogs: Is the Ban Working?', I have become acutely aware of the risks posed by XL Bully dogs in our communities. These dogs have been associated with numerous attacks, leaving people severely injured or even worse. Every time I think of encountering one on the street, it fills me with fear. While some owners claim their dogs are misunderstood, the rising frequency of these attacks raises serious concerns.

It's time we address this issue for the safety of everyone. XL Bully dogs, known for their size and strength, can pose a significant threat to public safety. Statistics and reports have shown an increasing trend in attacks associated with these breeds. The BBC's investigation highlighted tragic stories of families shattered by XL Bully attacks, with victims ranging from innocent children to unsuspecting elderly individuals.

The questions we must ask are clear: Are our current laws effective enough? Why are these incidents becoming more frequent despite existing regulations? The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 banned certain breeds, and yet, here we are facing similar threats once again.

Our government needs to take decisive action to protect its citizens. We call on the relevant authorities to expand the list of banned breeds and include the XL Bully. This must be done with a comprehensive approach, ensuring proper enforcement and education surrounding dangerous dogs. By doing so, we not only protect potential victims but also send a clear message that public safety must come first.

Join us in urging the UK government to reassess the current legislation surrounding dangerous dogs. Let's put pressure on officials to eradicate the presence of XL Bully dogs before another tragedy strikes. Together, we can create communities where everyone feels safe and secure.

Please sign this petition to help bring about the change that's desperately needed for a safer UK.
