To all of you who signed our Petition, Denise and I are so grateful. Because of your support and the insightful, encouraging comments that many of you left on this Petition we are happy and relieved to announce that the group home will remain open. Sadly, the developmentally disabled have often been considered to contribute little or nothing at all to the society we live in. However in the group homes in general, and this one in particular, they support each other. Not only do they support each other they teach people what it means to be human. They teach so many valuable life lessons and in doing so they have the ability for making community happen. Community Housing Network bought the home from Judson Center and we are thrilled to have Quest as our next provider. This insures that the men for whom the petition focused on will remain in the home where they have resided for over three decades. All of the very caring, professional staff that they have depended on, and thrived because of, for their day-to-day care and well being were not able to stay. Having met with the Quest staff we are confident that those who have taken their place will continue providing the excellent care our sons deserve. Although we have won this battle for our son’s, there is still so much to do. We parents would like to invite you to participate in the Kroger Community Rewards Program. This program allows supporters to link their Kroger card with this non-profit organization. Kroger will designate a percentage of purchases used with that card to the chosen non-profit. This program is an excellent way for people to support the quality work Quest/CWO does on behalf of individuals with disabilities just by doing your normal grocery shopping! If you are interested in supporting Quest/CWO through this program, you can do so in two steps. First, enroll your card. Then select Quest/CWO as your chosen non-profit organization. Follow Kroger.com, click on “Enroll” to get started. Once complete, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You can then use this information to log into your account and go to “Edit Kroger Community Rewards Information” as needed. Quest/CWO’s code for this program is 90630. Please re-enroll every April. We also wish to thank Carol Hopkins, Reporter at the Oakland Press, for her articles about the struggle we were going through and publishing the plight awaiting our guys if the group home had closed. And so again from the bottom of our hearts we thank each and every one of you and wish you well.
