Rhythm Heaven Groove ~ Bring Back Full Classic Games as an DLC Pack
The Issue
It’s a HUGE genuine excitement for me about an new “rhythm heaven” game dropping in 2020s and a unexpected comeback as well for the first time in 10 years, and now that the game has finally released (As of July 2, 2026 I'm writing this), it's an generous pleasure to finally be a part of the bandwagon of Rhythm Heaven’s new successor. I've Been loving & Hyperfixated Rhythm Heaven since Q3 2018, and it’s more loving that this iconic series has returned after a long time! (Along with Tomodachi Life) ❤️ (Yes I already saw the first announcement March 27, 2025). But I’m not here to discuss about my reaction completely, I’m here to quickly discuss about what are my big wishes for the upcoming games.
What was the most exciting for me is that Groove actually brought back some classics from previous titles, but however after glancing at them, Nearly all of the classics ended up getting a massive revamp unknowingly rather than maintaining originality, which was disappointing by alot of players & viewers, though some classics actually got an newer evolution of the minigames which is fleshed out well done, and I frankly appeal of how those classics are evolving from beginning to end. (My Favorites Groove Iterations were Quick Hands, Backup Spotlight, and Spirit Slasher) Rhythm Tweezers (And Ninja Bodyguard) was the ONLY returned classics that was left untouched and was repurposed as an multiplayer minigame, similar to what the arcade release of tengoku had. Quiz Show also returned but got revamped as a new minigame, which universally by players stated to be slightly more forgiving than what the first iteration of the minigame was as that first one ain't got no rhythm, AND likely the most reasonably deserved revamp than all the other ones touched upon.
The Main Issue of these returned Minigames surveyed by Viewers & Players is that most of them around 40% digged the new evolution/iteration of the classics, the other 60% of them were heavily wishing to see their favorite classics return to groove (e.g, “Ringside”, “Packing Pests”, “Donk Donk”, etc) , and as touched upon earlier, it was heavily disappointing by them to not see their favorites back in groove, which as a result may decrease the frequency of sales in the future. It is justification on why the viewers/players are disappointed since after waiting 10 years for a newer game in the series only for them to not bring back full classics for nostalgia as a way to promote a long-awaited game while simultaneously the series is hitting an big anniversary milestone this year sounds Unbelievable. This wish by viewers/players was the most highly-requested ever since the first trailer of Groove back in 2025.
My Reason for this shift for Groove is that the first Rhythm Heaven Game came out nearly 20 Years ago and I really believe that Nintendo should give players a blessing by including full nostalgia to cherish every past successors made that said players ranked best in the previous titles, and for me, I would be more happy to see all of my favorite classics officially remastered in Groove (e.g “Space Soccer”, “Tap Troupe”, “Shrimp Shuffle”, “Splashdown”, "Rockers"). Now It's been clear that Megamix already established this but unfortunately not all minigames were ported over to the 3DS due to the game being intentionally a “best-of” collection, but universally alot of people were also disappointed when not every minigame was returned to Megamix (which is the same thing occurring now in Groove), but since Megamix have gave viewers a opportunity for free, The best approach for groove is to establish this as an DLC Pack "Full Classic Games" for the future of Groove, which can actually increase sales & boost playtime enjoyments by nearly double if they officially bring back the original classic games to unlock memories made after almost 20 years of Rhythm Heaven.
In Conclusion, If you genuinely want to see MORE of your favorite classics from the previous titles return to groove, Chip up and gather anyone you can find to show them this and help promote this request to gather Nintendo’s attention so they can hear our genuine voices, along with those who've wanted the full original classics to officially return to groove for the future.
