Revoke the Community Achievement Award from Denise Rose & Ban her social media channels
The Issue
Our concerns regarding Afua Rose (Denise Annmarie Rose) campaign lead for the 'His Time is Up' are solely based on her content, online conduct and activities. We attempted to communicate these concerns to the Blacc Awards and the RAF through an email sent on November 24, 2022. During an email exchange with Dexter Golding, a supporter of her past and current work, our concerns were dismissed, and we were threatened with harassment. To date (5/1/2024) despite emailing all the sponsors, we have not heard back from any of them other than the Blacc Awards, who remain steadfast in their support of Afua.
In a live broadcast on December 28, 2023, Afua mentioned that both the Blacc Awards and RAF consider us to be trolls, implying that they would not take our concerns seriously. Therefore, we are formally petitioning the Blacc Awards, along with its funders and sponsors, which include Women of Colour in Policing, Luxe Music, the Paul Canoville Foundation, the RAF and Herts Police, to revoke the Community Achievement Award awarded to Afua Rose (Denise Annmarie Rose) in 2022. Our request is based on the following reasons:
- Unethical and Illegal Behavior: Afua Rose has displayed behaviour online that includes libel, slander, defamation, harassment, and malicious communications, violating both ethical and legal standards.
- Spread of False Information: Afua Rose has spread hurtful and unverified information, making baseless accusations against individuals. This includes falsely implicating a child in a murder during a sensitive time for the community. She's also publicly and privately labelled people as paedophiles and rapists across live streams and social media. On August 25, 2023, during the 'Uncle Sugs' podcast, she accused an unnamed man (who we believe to be 'Mr. Vincent Atkins', from previous comments she's made of a similar nature) of fathering 80 children with mothers who were allegedly victims of rape at ages 11–12yrs by him. Most of these allegations are unconfirmed (legally) and have the potential to significantly harm the individuals she mentions.
- Verbal Attacks on the Community: Afua Rose has engaged in vitriolic and offensive live sessions, victimising the very community she claims to support.
- Dismissal of Concerns: Despite receiving numerous complaints addressing her conduct, the Blacc Awards responded inadequately. During a live session on September 13th, 2022, with her guest, MC 5ive-O (who faced allegations of rape but was found not guilty), Afua Rose displayed concerning behaviour. She openly laughed at individuals who had emailed the Blacc Awards regarding her actions, revealing the identity of a member of the public taking legal action against her for defamation, and she said that an official contacted her and suggested altering her LinkedIn profile instead of addressing the substantial issues raised. (What was even more disturbing in the same live is that both Afua and MC 5ive-O mocked his alleged victim using a sexist and derogatory slur.)
- Legal Cases: As of 2024, Afua Rose faces defamation and multiple criminal cases related to harassment and malicious communication, which raises serious doubts about her suitability for a community achievement award.
- Falsely claiming to be a psychotherapist: Afua Rose, claims to be a qualified psychotherapist with a 'BA in Counseling and Psychotherapy' from London Metropolitan University, as indicated on her LinkedIn profile in 2023. Upon thorough inquiry, it has been brought to our attention that neither London Metropolitan University (nor London Guildhall University, as it was previously known) offer a course matching this description. Additionally, it's important to note that a degree in Counseling and Psychotherapy typically falls under the category of a BSc (Bachelor of Science), not a Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Afua Rose's continued championing as a community achiever despite these actions poses a threat and a danger to the well-being and safeguarding of the Black Community and undermines the credibility of recognising genuine contributions. We urge the Blacc Awards to withdraw the award immediately to disavow and prevent the normalisation of such detrimental behaviour within the community.
We stand united in seeking accountability and ensuring that recognition is granted to those who genuinely uplift and empower the community.

UPDATE: Due to significant data breaches and legal concerns leading to a safeguarding issue, which came to our attention on 9/01/24, we find it necessary to modify this petition. We are formally requesting both YouTube and Instagram (Meta) to ban her social media channels as a result.
