As a direct and personal witness to the devastations mounted by the unfair bloc voting law in the Philippines, I am calling for urgent action. This law has become a wellspring of corruption and a tool for religious bodies like the Iglesia Ni Cristo to gain unjustifiable influence in our political sphere. The problem is not in their faith, but the dangerous political power this law vests in them.

The bloc voting system that currently exists, has opened doors for institutionally-endorsed leaders to solicit political favours in exchange for political backing. We have silently watched as these institutions leverage their backing for such favours spanning lucrative government projects, coveted promotions in law enforcement, and highly sought-after positions in cabinets, departments and the justice system. Innocent citizens have been oppressed and coerced by this political manipulation.

Democracy in our nation is at stake. Human rights, trust in the governance system and equality are being threatened as the essence of secular governance is drastically eroding. The unintended consequences of the bloc voting law is hurting the very fabric of our country - our people.

The plight of the silent victims does not have to continue to be overlooked. The gestures of favouritism, coercion and corruption can come to an end. Stand with me as we call for the revocation of the bloc voting system. This is a fight against political corruption, abuses of power and a battle for the restoration of a truly secular state.
