📣 Two things can be true at once:
1. Delegate Mark Sickles and Delegate Kathy Tran can post about “defending healthcare” and “fighting for Medicaid” all they want.
2. But they, (along with ALL their colleagues), have also ignored over two months of weekly emails detailing confirmed Medicare and Medicaid fraud, elder abuse, and neglect in Virginia’s long-term care system—and used their power as Chair and Vice Chair of the House Health and Human Services Committee to kill HB 1753, a bill that would’ve implemented mandatory staffing ratios to help stop it.
They had the chance to take real action. Instead, they chose to protect corporate donors and lobbyists while patients suffered and frontline workers begged for help. That’s not healthcare advocacy—it’s performative politics at best, and complicity at worst. And let’s not forget that Medicare and Medicaid fraud are federal felonies.
If you’re wondering why elder abuse continues unchecked in Virginia nursing homes, just look at who’s smiling for photo ops and who’s blocking reform behind closed doors. 💰📩
