Revoke Dr. Carlos Silvera’s Veterinary License for Animal Abuse

The Issue

I’m heartbroken and outraged by what’s come to light at the Swansea Veterinary Center in Massachusetts.

Veterinarian Carlos Silvera—now serving prison time on criminal charges—stands accused by multiple former employees and pet owners of shocking animal abuse and negligence. Dogs like Lotus, a 3-year-old French bulldog, died after routine procedures. Others suffered needlessly due to surgeries allegedly performed under the influence, without protective gear, or even while he was injured and unable to operate safely.

Former staff say they were threatened into silence. Some describe violent scenes—including claims that Silvera slammed a dog’s head into a table. One woman said he told her how he could kill her with his bare hands. These are not isolated incidents. They represent a terrifying pattern.

Despite years of complaints, Silvera kept practicing.

Enough is enough.

The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Veterinary Medicine must take decisive action: permanently revoke Dr. Carlos Silvera’s license and bar him from practicing veterinary medicine again. Anything less sends the message that cruelty has no consequences.

Pets are family. They deserve safety, compassion, and care—not trauma and pain.

Sign this petition if you believe no one who abuses animals—or the people who care for them—should ever be trusted with their lives again.
