Revoke Asher House 501c3: Justice for Chevy!
The Issue
HELP US GET JUSTICE FOR CHEVY AND ALL OTHER ANIMALS THAT HAVE SUFFERED UNDER THE CARE OF THE ASHER HOUSE! REVOKE ASHER HOUSE 501C3!
The Asher House is a well-known 501C3 rescue pulling many euthanasia listed animals for the last several years. However, with the confirmation of the death of Chevy, new information has come to light on how this unethical, immoral "rescue" runs its day to day operations. In the month of June, Lee Asher stated his rescue pulled more than 150 dogs from the euthanasia list. Following that, a small handful of these dogs have been shown on camera once and many have not ever been seen. Where are they? Are they being cared for? Or did they meet the same painful, unjust death as Chevy? In light of much damning evidence that dogs are being shot on property, not quarantined, not decompressed, kept in kennels 23 hours a day (or more), DOJ investigation into the rescue, lack of filed taxes since 2020 and so much more, WE WANT ASHER HOUSE'S 501C3 TO BE REVOKED. While there are many more injustices happening daily, this is the start of ensuring no more animals can be abused, killed and worse at the hands of Lee Asher!
Why revoke Asher House 501c3?
The IRS has set forth guidelines to qualify an organization as 501c3 and Asher House is violating several:
- "The exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3) are...preventing cruelty to children or animals". There is proof that Lee Asher has shot and killed many of his rescue animals on his property. His animals are in small kennels the vast majority of the day, without proper exercise or contact. He has a policy stating his handlers must carry tasers in case of a fight. He does not have proper quarantine procedures and many dogs are needlessly exposed.
- "The organization must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, and no part of a section 501(c)(3) organization's net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual." It's hard to say an exact amount of donations that The Asher House brings in but several sources say greater than $2mil in 2022 (and its only grown since then). Lee Asher has acquired over $12mil in properties in the past 2 years. Facilities created for the dogs have never been shown, just huge mansions that he lives in. Lee Asher also has a FOR PROFIT company called Asher House Wellness that he promotes on his rescue social media as well as many product deals. Where does this money go? There is no grand kennel facility, we have only seen pictures of his garage with kennels stacked in rows and dogs on concrete floors.
More on the Horrors at the Asher House:
To just list a few of the confirmed events:
- Gorgeous and Guilty: 2 Tibetan mastiffs, mauled an employee in early 2024, causing over 60 stitches, emotional and physical trauma, extended leave from work and major financial burden. The dogs are still alive on his property and Lee Asher has offered zero financial help to his ex-employee. GFM for Liz: https://gofund.me/d1f99291
- Janey: medical dog that Asher shot and killed
- Charles: attacked and killed in Asher's pack
- Jax: shot and killed Jax after a dog fight and buried him in a shallow grave on his property
- Mugsy: a parrot, Lee left him in his cage while the flooring in the house was redone and he was killed slowy by the noxious chemicals
- Tony: Lee shot him on the property right after making a "goodbye" video
- River: medical dog that was attacked and killed in his pack
- Maeve: Frenchie, drowned after being trampled in his reservoir
- So so many more that he has pulled but haven't been confirmed alive
More about Chevy:
Chevy was a young 1 year old male Dogo Argentino, handsome and huge at over 110 pounds. He was brought in as a stray to Apple Valley Animal Shelter in early June 2024. He was nervous in his kennel, stressed as many large breeds are in the shelter. He growled and postured but took treats gently from volunteers. As many do, Lee Asher was drawn to his machismo look and decided to sign the behavior waiver and pull Chevy, without knowing anything about the breed or even how to say it (he called Chevy a "dojo Argentina"). On June 15th, Chevy was sent on transport where he was well behaved and took chicken nuggets through his kennel gently and with soft eyes. Valley Oaks Dogs was his board and train destination, a trainer with seemingly no dominant breed experience or knowledge. Videos have now surfaced of Chevy being walked through a chaotic property and kenneled next to a barrier aggressive dog. On June 17th, the Valley Oaks trainer sent a text message to Hanna Thompson of West Coast Cane Corso Rescue telling her that she was "supposed to evaluate him" and that she told Asher House "he's dangerous and decided to put him down, I'm fine with that" but "they were looking for last options." Hanna obviously declined to help and it was confirmed Chevy was killed on June 18th. Chevy had no bite history, no aggressive incidence documented at all. On June 19th, Lee Asher posted a reel on IG and FB confirming again Chevy was dead.
Justice for Chevy Mission Statement:
JFC is a grass roots movement founded on exposing the truth surrounding Chevy's death and educating the public regarding transparency in rescues and animal advocacy. In the quest to find the truth about Chevy's death, we have uncovered unimaginable horrors surrounding Lee Asher and The Asher House. All information shared is first hand and corroborated with evidence.
More about the JFC Movement:
It really is amazing how much support and progress has been made considering this movement started with just a few volunteers outraged at the needless death of their loved Dogo Argentino breed! At it's core, this movement is about animal advocacy, ensuring transparency within rescue and exposing unethical individuals masked as rescue martyrs. Shelter volunteers, animal lovers and ethical rescues work too hard to ensure helpless animals find homes for a sham like the Asher House to swoop in post fake sob stories for donations. While The Asher House is our current focus, many other unethical rescues have showed their true colors in support for Lee's sickening shirtless diatribes and they will be exposed in time, too.
