Revive the Development of Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 1

Revive the Development of Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 1
The Issue
; Request for Update to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (GW1)
Dear EA Development Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing as a passionate fan of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (GW1) to kindly request that you consider implementing an update or limited-time support for this beloved game on modern platforms such as PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox Series S/X, as well as maintaining support on legacy consoles like PS3 and Xbox One.
While we understand that subsequent titles (Garden Warfare 2 and Battle for Neighborville) have taken the spotlight, there remains a dedicated and passionate community of players who cherish the unique charm and balance of the original Garden Warfare. The game’s simplistic yet highly engaging design, distinct visual style, and nostalgic value have made it an enduring favorite among fans—even years after its initial release.
Here are some reasons why an update would be valuable, even with a relatively smaller player base:
1. Community Revival and Nostalgia Appeal
Many players would love to return to GW1 for its unique mechanics and the simplicity that distinguished it from its successors. A minor update—such as quality-of-life improvements, server optimizations, or even compatibility enhancements—could spark renewed interest in the game and encourage lapsed fans to return.
2. Preservation of a Legacy Game
Plants vs. Zombies is a franchise that has left an indelible mark on gaming. By updating GW1, EA would show its commitment to preserving its legacy titles, an approach that fosters goodwill and loyalty among your fanbase.
3. Monetization Opportunities
An update could open up opportunities for limited-time cosmetic microtransactions or content bundles. For example, introducing exclusive skins or seasonal events could generate revenue while re-engaging existing players.
4. Support for Modern Hardware
Many players have transitioned to modern consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Enabling smoother gameplay through backward compatibility or optimization would make the game accessible to new audiences while preserving its original charm.
5. Minimal Development Effort for Maximum Impact
While creating new games is resource-intensive, updating GW1 could be a cost-effective way to engage with a loyal fanbase. Even small updates—like patching bugs, ensuring server stability, or adding crossplay—would be greatly appreciated by the community.
EA has always been a forward-thinking company, but its success is built on its legacy titles and the players who supported them. By showing continued care for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (GW1), you’d be reinforcing your connection to fans and celebrating the game that started an incredible series.
We understand that resources are finite, and priorities must be managed. However, even a modest update to GW1 would have an outsized impact on its community and would likely reignite excitement for the Plants vs. Zombies franchise as a whole.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (GW1) was a groundbreaking multiplayer shooter that captured the hearts of thousands of players worldwide. With its unique charm, balanced gameplay, and unforgettable nostalgia, GW1 remains a gem in the PvZ franchise. However, with EA and PopCap focusing on newer titles, GW1 has been left behind, and it’s time to change that! Why GW1 is getting a second life 1. Perfectly balanced gameplay – Unlike Garden Warfare 2 (GW2) and Battle for Neighborville (BFN), GW1 had a simple but effective character roster that was balanced and fun. There were no overpowered Legendary characters or overwhelming variants: each class had a purpose, making matches fair and competitive. 2. Better pace and simplicity of gameplay – GW1 focused on strategy, teamwork, and skill rather than excessive abilities and mechanics. In comparison, GW2 introduced a faster, more chaotic style, while BFN completely changed the formula, making it less appealing to long-time fans. GW1’s simple design was what made it truly special.
Iconic Maps and Atmosphere – GW1’s maps were vibrant, well-designed, and full of personality. From Driftwood Shores to Walnut Hills, each map had a unique identity and encouraged smart play. Later games introduced more cluttered, less memorable maps that lost some of GW1’s charm. 4. The Nostalgia Factor – For many, GW1 was their introduction to online shooters. It brought players together in a way that later titles struggled to replicate. The simplicity, community spirit, and timeless fun are what keep fans coming back, even after all these years.
Why EA Should Listen Strong Community Support – Despite its age, GW1 still has a dedicated player base that loves and supports the game. With a true revival, including server improvements and promotional efforts, more players could come back and enjoy it again. A New Opportunity – A GW1 revival could attract both nostalgic fans and new players looking for a fun and unique shooter experience. In an era where remasters and revivals thrive, this could be a win for EA and the PvZ community. A Petition That Matters – By signing this petition, we are showing EA and PopCap that GW1 still has a passionate fan base. We don’t want it to be forgotten, we want it to thrive again!
Take action now! If you want to see Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare continue to grow, sign the petition and share it with other fans! Together, we can prove that this game still has a place in the PvZ world.
Here are my ideas for game modes if I liked the game would be updated. Get ready for an intense, action-packed mode that will put your teamwork and strategy to the test! Flag Battle is a capture-the-flag style mode where plants and zombies go head-to-head in a race to secure victory.
🏁 How It Works:
✔ Capture the Flag – Grab the enemy’s flag and bring it back to your camp to score points.
✔ Defend Your Base – Protect your own flag from being stolen by the enemy team.
✔ First to the Target Score Wins – The first team to reach the required number of points claims victory!
⚔ Why This Mode Rocks:
🔥 Brings back classic team-based gameplay with a PvZ twist!
🌻 Encourages team coordination and strategic defense.
🧟 Perfect for both casual and competitive players!
Mode: Apocalypse Invasion
Game Type: Cooperative and competitive (8v8)
Objective: Zombies must invade a city, while plants defend strategic points before the final evacuation.
Match Phases:
Phase 1 - Infiltration Zombies start outside the city and must break through plant defenses. Plants have automatic turrets and cannons to slow down the attack.
2. Phase 2 - Urban Chaos
The battle intensifies in a destroyed city center. Abandoned vehicles and ruined buildings provide cover. Plants can activate traps (e.g., electric poles that shock zombies).
3. Phase 3 - Final Evacuation
Plants must reach an evacuation zone before time runs out. Zombies gain a speed boost and upgraded abilities to prevent their escape. A zombie boss (Dr. Zomboss) may appear to block the exit. Why Would This Mode Be Fun? A mix of attack and defense with increasing intensity.Dynamic environmental interactions (traps, barricades, explosive vehicles). A final boss battle to make the ending even more epic.
Another idea is to add new plants and Zombies variants.
Plants: Such as an Ice Sunflower. Ice chomper Electros Pea Toxic Cactus
Zombies: Such as an Ice Scientist Ice Engineer Toxic Soldiers Electros All start
There is also another game mode called "Boss Garden and Graveyard." Four new maps are planned, both day and night, specifically for this mode. The goal is to capture all the plant gardens in the graveyards. As in the basic Garden and Graveyard mode, when facing zombie bosses, you must spawn as a random zombie boss. You must use canons, 1. Explosive Chili Pepper Cannon Launches flaming projectiles that explode upon contact with bosses. Deals sustained burning damage. Requires a cooldown after multiple shots. 2. Plasma Dot Catapult Launches energy dots that create an explosion upon impact. Area-of-effect damage to hit multiple enemies simultaneously. Can be upgraded to increase the size of the explosion. 3. Sticky Donut Launcher Launches explosive donuts that stick to bosses and explode after a short delay. Temporarily slows the speed of the hit boss. Bonus damage if multiple projectiles stick to the target before exploding. 4. Prickly Cactus Cannon Launches piercing projectiles that deal continuous damage. Can poison bosses to reduce their resistance. Perfect for long-range attacks. 5. Buttered Corn Bazooka Launches explosive corn cobs. Explosion that slightly knocks back bosses. Can be quickly reloaded for burst fire. 6. Bean Mortar Launches explosive bell-shaped beans, perfect for hitting bosses hidden behind obstacles. The explosion releases a toxic cloud that deals damage over time. Slow reload, but high damage. 7. Sunflower Cannon Fires a continuous laser that gradually heats the target. The longer you hold the shot, the more damage you take. Fast reload, but limited range. Plants can spawn with any character, but some cannons appear from the start of the game and must be used to defeat bosses. However, if a player destroys the cannons, they can respawn a minute later if the zombies haven't captured the area. add the zombot which was planned for 2014 but you totally abandoned this idea we would like you to put this boss in Garden ops and in the Apocalyptic Invasion game mode.
I would like to add this map only in Gnome Bomb and Suburbination generated by AI
I've also created some AI maps that could be really interesting for Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 1. We suggest creating maps like the ones below. These maps could be a great idea for the game, whether it's for the garden, the boss graveyard, or normal mode.
Imagine a frozen battlefield populated by colossal fossils, a futuristic clash between fire and ice, a vast desert populated by ancient zombie ruins, or an industrial jungle overrun by nature. These maps will bring new gameplay and challenges, and rekindle the enthusiasm of PvZ fans around the world! Don't hesitate to expand Garden Warfare with these Masterclass maps: it would be a revolutionary update that players would love Thank you !!
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope this message inspires a dialogue within EA about the value of revisiting older tit
(I would also like to say one more thing to the developer: you need to create a new character or paid DLC for players. It doesn't cost you much to create a character or DLC it all depends on what you are doing so I suggest you create a character or a paid variant so maybe players can buy it and if it works great for you would have enough money to develop the game and you make an announcement of the new DLC on social networks for example and when you have enough money you can put the game into development. have a good day and evening!!!)
Sincerely,
[A Loyal PVZ Fan]
We understand that the original development team for Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 1 is no longer available. However, the absence of the original team should not prevent this beloved game from receiving the care it deserves.
We propose that EA consider assembling a dedicated team of skilled developers, or leveraging modern AI-assisted tools, to implement updates, fix lingering issues, and optimize the game for current and future consoles. This approach could be cost-effective, efficient, and still preserve the original charm and balance of GW1.
By taking this step, EA would not only honor its legacy but also demonstrate that community passion can inspire innovation. The continued support of GW1 through even modest updates, new maps, or additional content could reignite excitement for the franchise and strengthen the loyalty of a global fanbase.
We urge EA to see this as an opportunity: the fan community is ready, passionate, and willing to help support the revival of GW1. Together, with a dedicated team or AI-assisted development, GW1 can continue to thrive, even years after its original release.
