Ever since my kids began playing at Palm Coast Little League (PCLL) in 2022, we’ve become part of a vibrant community that seemed to transform every Saturday into a day of laughter, learning, and camaraderie for my family and many others. The joy we found at PCLL was not just in the games, but in the friendships that blossomed among the children and parents alike. There’s a special kind of magic that happens when families gather at the ball field, sharing not just the excitement of the game, but the simple pleasure of being together.

Unfortunately, the original spirit of PCLL is being threatened. What was once a welcoming and inclusive environment for all children in Palm Coast has been overshadowed by a singular focus on Baseball and Royals travel ball. Softball has vanished, cutting off opportunities for countless kids to engage in sports, develop skills, and create treasured memories. PCLL, which should be a sanctuary for all children in our city, is increasingly catering to an exclusive few, with resources and attention directed towards travel teams rather than the entire local youth community.

This shift not only alienates many families but goes against the very mission of our local little league. The league was designed to foster a love for the sport in all children, no matter their background or level of experience, emphasizing fun, fitness, and friendship over intense competition.

To restore PCLL to its original purpose, we propose:

1. Reintroducing youth softball alongside baseball to offer equal opportunities for boys and girls, ensuring that no child feels left out.
2. Creating distinct schedules and resources for local little league teams and travel ball clubs, allowing PCLL to serve its intended municipal purpose while still providing space for competitive teams.
3. Involving community members and former volunteers in the management and decision-making processes, thus reinforcing the community-centric focus of the league.

By implementing these steps, we will not only bring back the true spirit of PCLL but create a sustainable environment where all children can thrive, make lasting friends, and experience the unparalleled joy of playing sports in a supportive community.
