Revive Milwaukie's Eyesore: Paint a Welcoming Mural on the Old Rusty Railroad Bridge!

Revive Milwaukie's Eyesore: Paint a Welcoming Mural on the Old Rusty Railroad Bridge!
The Issue
Every day, I and several others drive through the heart of our vibrant communities, Milwaukie and Oak Grove, on SE McLoughlin Boulevard. We're accustomed to the sight of the old rusty railroad bridge, an eyesore laced with rust and graffiti.
Aesthetics matter, and the current state of the bridge detracts from the beauty of our neighborhood. It serves as an unwelcome reminder of decay and neglect, when it could instead be a symbol of community spirit, creativity, and pride.
We are a community with a rich history and a deep appreciation for arts and culture. Transforming this rusty railroad bridge into a vibrant, welcoming mural would not only enhance our town's beauty but also showcase our communal values. Numerous localities worldwide have turned bridges, walls, and other infrastructure into artwork, boosting community morale and improving the overall aesthetic, including Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program which has created over 3,600 murals since inception, according to data from the city itself.
I and many others in our neighborhoods ask our local authorities to permit and sponsor the transformation of the old rusty railroad bridge on SE McLoughlin Boulevard into a mural embracing our shared culture, history, and aspirations. This action can turn an eyesore into a local landmark that garners civic pride and uplifts our daily commute.
So let's light up our community spirit, celebrate our culture, and erase an eyesore. Please join us in this creative endeavor and sign this petition. We not only want to drive this change; we want to paint it too. Your signature makes a difference!
