Hello fellow supporters,
Once again I want to thank each and everyone of you for your support in our efforts to have the Toronto Humber Yacht Club removed from the shores of the Humber River and thus put an end to their continued degradation of the public land they were privileged to occupy.
Unfortunately the battle will not be over until the "Staff Report", which includes the recommendation that THYC's lease not be extend, is present to Toronto's General Governance Committee for review and then being passed by Toronto City Council.

Although I do remain hopeful the city will hold firm on it's decision not to renew THYC's lease, as is indicated by the club receiving a Letter of Non-renewal from the city in June of this year, it's not unheard of for the city to renege on promises made to the community in order to appease well funded special interest groups.
As the "Staff Report" with it's recommendations has been delayed many times and as the THYC is the only boat club not having it's lease renewed, I'm a little concerned the decision to end THYC's lease is not a forgone conclusion.
I've been informed the "Staff Report" should be put forward to the General Governance Committee on December 8. This means the committee's agenda should be published/released on December 1 of this year.
With this in mind, I'm asking you to once again reach out to city staff and politicians (emails listed above) letting them know that even though the Humber is quiet now, protecting the river is still very much in our hearts and minds.
My hope is that with our voices still sounding, the city will understand we as a community are tired of the delays and what concrete action to be taken.
