In the heart of Korba, Chhattisgarh, cows, revered as mothers in our society, are undergoing immense suffering. As a regular feeder of cows and dogs, I have always taken it upon myself to provide them with food and medical care. I have even placed myself between them and municipal corporation vehicles when they are taken to the Gauthan. What was meant to be a sanctuary for these gentle creatures has, tragically, turned into a veritable cemetery where they suffer from hunger and thirst.

The condition of the Gauthans in Korba is alarming. These facilities, intended to provide shelter and care for stray cows, have been neglected and left without resources. A lack of proper management, adequate food supply, and clean water has resulted in dire circumstances for these animals that heavily depend on human intervention for their well-being.

The statistics speak for themselves—numerous reports indicate that several cows succumb to the appalling conditions daily. Cows, who are considered sacred and integral to the rural economy and culture in Chhattisgarh, deserve our utmost respect and care. Allowing them to live in such abysmal conditions is not only heartbreaking but also a betrayal of our values.

Our demand is simple yet crucial: reform the management of Korba's Gauthan. We propose that the local government allocate necessary funds and resources to ensure the facility is equipped with sufficient food, clean drinking water, and veterinary services. Furthermore, appointing a dedicated team to oversee the care and maintenance of these creatures can drastically improve their living conditions.
