The Issue

Revitalizing Dyess Park is about more than just repairs—it’s about restoring a sense of community pride, creating opportunities for healthy activity, and providing a safe, well-maintained environment where people are eager to gather. This park, located on James Brown Boulevard, has been a focal point in our community, a place where families, youth, and residents come together, play, and take pride in their neighborhood.

However, neglect and lack of maintenance have caused Dyess Park to lose its vibrancy and charm. The once-bustling areas are now plagued with broken equipment, overgrown spaces, and insufficient lighting, making it an unappealing and even unsafe environment for our community. There is an urgent need to invest in the park’s rejuvenation, reflecting care, investment, and respect for the community it serves.

According to the National Recreation and Park Association, parks improve physical and mental health, promote community connections, and increase property values. A revitalized park would offer all these benefits to our community, ensuring Dyess Park is once again a beacon of pride and unity.

We believe that by securing funding from local government initiatives and community partnerships, we can restore and enhance Dyess Park to its former glory. This would involve repairing and updating playgrounds, improving lighting, installing new benches, and creating clean, landscaped areas for relaxation and enjoyment.

We urge our local government's Parks and Recreation Department to prioritize the revitalization of Dyess Park. Let’s bring back the vibrancy and safety our community deserves. Please sign this petition to show your support and commitment to making Dyess Park a thriving part of our neighborhood once more.
