Revise the Rhode Island Window Tinting Laws for Better Personal Comfort and Safety

Revise the Rhode Island Window Tinting Laws for Better Personal Comfort and Safety
The Issue
I am a resident of Rhode Island who deeply values my personal rights, and I passionately advocate for the wellbeing of my family. My vehicle blesses me with an essential facility, a mode of transporting my elderly mother who suffers gravely from migraines. Owing to her delicate condition, excessive light only exacerbates her sufferings. Furthermore, the harsh sunlight contributes to the gradual deterioration of my vehicle’s interior. These difficulties are further interlaced with the outdated Rhode Island tinting laws, which we believe need revision for our personal comfort and safety.
Our appeal stands strong – we'd like to see Rhode Island Window Tinting laws altered. Currently, Rhode Island law allows a mere 70% of light, which is one of the most stringent regulations in the country (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). This rule is antiquated and does not consider the latest safety features installed in newer car models, which ensures reduced hindrance in visibility even with tinted windows.
We understand the rationale behind such laws - safety and visibility are important, but it is time we embrace the technological advancements that enable safety measures and also look after personal comfort and health. This width of perspective, we believe, can result in changes that cater to a wider audience, including those with light sensitivity or health problems that require tinted windows. Our vehicles are indeed personal property, and we hope that they are considered such under the law, with their unique utilities taken into account.
Let us walk together toward a future where the laws are empathetic and comprehensively serving all of its citizens. Your signature can bring the much-needed change and make our voices heard. Sign this petition and join us in our fight to revise the Rhode Island Window Tinting Laws.
