Due to ongoing wet weather, works have been delayed but will now commence Wednesday 18th of June starting near Ribbonwood Ave.
Feedback Regarding Path Alignment
Council wishes to thank the residents that have raised their concerns regarding the proposed crossing of the pathway at #8B and #24
Centenary Drive as well as vehicle speeds along this road. Council has revisited these areas and obtained advice from an Active Transport Engineer (i.e. road safety consultant).
Council also reviewed traffic data and acknowledges there is a speeding issue on
Centenary Drive.
Unfortunately, due to site constraints relating to two culverts and very narrow verge widths within the road corridor, retaining the pathway on the North side of Centenary is simply not feasible.
Revised Alignment and Crossings
The path will still cross the road at the West end near #24 and #22, however two splitter islands will now be installed with line marking to facilitate speed reduction and crossing awareness.
The path will now continue along the South side all the way to Tallowwood Street before crossing to the North side of the road and heading North on the West side of Tallowwood Street. Several driveways will be impacted and need to be partially reconstructed on the south side. At #4 to #6 Centenary Drive the path will be on-road behind existing on-street parking with delineation installed.
We believe this to be the safest possible alignment for what is a challenging site.
Speed Reduction Measures
Additional regulatory speed signs and pavement markings (50km/hr) will also be installed to increase awareness of the speed on your street.
Council will continue to monitor speeds on Centenary Drive following this work.
