Review the working time regulation 1998
The Issue
This petition significantly impacts all UK employees. The 1998 Working Time Regulations currently grant each employee 20 days of paid leave annually, plus eight bank holidays, totaling 5.6 weeks. However, the current economic climate necessitates a review, as employees experience increased workloads and reduced disposable income due to rising costs and taxation, resulting in less family time. Therefore, we propose amending the regulations to increase annual leave to 25 days, plus the eight bank holidays. This crucial aspect of employment law has not been updated in 27 years, and the current circumstances demand a change to provide employees with improved work-life balance and prevent burnout.
