Revert the BASIS Phoenix Logo to the Pre-2526 School Year Version

Revert the BASIS Phoenix Logo to the Pre-2526 School Year Version
The Issue
We are writing to respectfully request that BASIS Phoenix reinstate the logo used before the 2025–2026 school year. As students who take pride in our school’s identity, we believe the previous design better represented the character and values of our community. Its clean, two-color style stood out among local schools and supported the image of a charter academy that offers a distinct and elevated educational experience.
We fully understand that change can be necessary and can support positive growth. However, this particular change has not produced those benefits. The new logo is more complex, less distinctive, and often compared to a pitchfork, causing it to blend in rather than stand out. Many students were not even aware the change had taken place, as the logo was quietly introduced without meaningful notice or communication. This quiet transition weakened the sense of unity and shared identity that typically accompanies major school-wide decisions.
The previous design also carried practical and symbolic advantages. Its simplicity ensured clarity across uniforms, signage, and digital platforms, and its subtle resemblance to the City of Phoenix emblem fostered a sense of local pride. Importantly, the old BASIS Phoenix Primary logo—derived directly from the former main logo—served as additional evidence of the design’s flexibility and strength: it adapted into a younger, friendlier form that students and families consistently found appealing. The new primary variant does not share this charm or coherence, underscoring how the earlier design functioned better across age groups.
We understand that the new logos for both BASIS Phoenix and BASIS Phoenix Primary have already been implemented, and we respect the work that went into that process. However, for the reasons outlined—distinctiveness, clarity, symbolic connection to the city, and strong performance at both the upper and primary school levels—we respectfully request that both logos be reverted to their previous forms beginning with the 2026–2027 school year and onward. Restoring the earlier designs would better reflect the pride, unity, and excellence that define our community.
