Revert Indiana's License Plate to the "Amber Waves of Grain" Design

Revert Indiana's License Plate to the "Amber Waves of Grain" Design
The Issue
As someone who cherishes the rich agricultural heritage and captivating sunset hues of Indiana, I yearn for the return of the beloved "Amber Waves of Grain" license plate design. This is a deeply personal matter for me and for so many other Hoosiers. Our current "covered bridge" license plates are a beautiful homage to a part of Indiana’s history, but they fail to represent our state in its entirety — not all regions of Indiana are known for their covered bridges. However, grain fields are ubiquitous across our state, even a short drive outside of our capitol, Indianapolis, leads one through scenic expanses of crops.
The "Amber Waves of Grain" design captures our collective memory, reflecting our state's widespread agricultural roots and timeless sunsets. It is a recognition of our past, a symbol of our present, and a beacon to our future. In 2008, over 50% of the plates issued were of "Amber Waves of Grain" design, a testament to its popularity (source: Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Annual Report, 2008). A fresh take on this version of the cherished plate design could be open to so much creativity and possibility. We, the undersigned, are asking you to honor Indiana’s broad and deep connections to its rural roots and spectacular scenic views by bringing back the "Amber Waves of Grain" as Indiana's official passenger vehicle license plate.
We stand together for an accurate representation of our state's natural charm. Sign our petition to bring back the sunset landscape license plate, an embodiment of our Indiana pride and identity.
