Reverse the Supreme Court’s Dobbs Decision Now
The Issue
Hello, everyone. My name is Chrystyan & there is a crucial reality that affects countless lives across this country.
Since June 24th, 2022, the landscape of reproductive rights has shifted dramatically with the fall of Roe v. Wade. In its wake, most states have imposed severe restrictions on access to abortion, stripping millions of their autonomy over personal healthcare decisions. This is a call to action, and we must mobilize to reverse these detrimental laws.
Four years ago, abortions were protected federally in all 50 states, providing essential healthcare access to those in need. Today, however, 25 states have restricted or completely banned access to abortion. Alarmingly, there are 10 states where abortion is banned even in cases of rape, including for minors. The implications of these restrictions are grave, as they disproportionately affect marginalized communities, including POC & Queer individuals like myself, who face additional hurdles in accessing necessary care.
In addition, some states mandate that individuals must be subjected to anti-abortion propaganda before receiving care. Such policies not only undermine the rights of individuals but also disrespect their agency and intelligence. This is not just a personal issue; it's a community crisis, demanding immediate and collective action.
While some states have enacted protections for providers and patients, most lag behind, further endangering the health and freedom of its residents. It’s imperative that we target our state lawmakers and demand the reversal of these oppressive laws. Our goal is simple yet powerful: restore access to abortion care I fully in the United States, affirming that abortion is indeed healthcare.
