Reverse the decision to close Cathedral Preschool
Reverse the decision to close Cathedral Preschool
The Issue

For 40 years, Cathedral Preschool has been a place of faith, love, learning, and growth for children and their families in our community. My own child, just 3 years old, is thriving here, as have countless others over the decades. It stands as a beacon of quality education, routinely ranked among the top preschools in the region, and chosen by numerous families who value the nurturing environment it provides.
Now, the sudden decision to close Cathedral Preschool—and push families toward the newly opened Early Learning Academy—is threatening to erase a treasured educational institution and deny us the choice we cherish. Cathedral has not only been a school but a community cornerstone, supporting our children’s developmental needs, strengthening their love for Jesus Christ, and playing a significant role in their early spiritual, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Many parents, including myself, have chosen Cathedral because it's not just where learning happens; it’s where lifelong friendships and community bonds are formed and where the foundation of their faith is laid.
The rationale for its closure seems to lack transparency and disregards the genuine needs and preferences of families who have come to rely on Cathedral for their child’s formative years. This decision does not simply affect individuals—it impacts the entire community network carefully built over decades. Transitions are difficult for young children, and forcing them into a change could have lasting implications on their development.
Let us not force upon our children an abrupt transition without considering the consequences. It is possible to support new facilities without sacrificing established institutions that have proven their excellence and have touched so many lives positively. There is every reason to maintain both schools, offering parents the right to choose the environment they deem best for their child's growth.
We urge decision-makers to reconsider and reverse the closure of Cathedral Preschool. Let it continue to stand as a place where our children and families feel valued and cared for, where learning is cherished, and memories are made.
