Reverse the ATF's Decision Banning Enola Gaye EG67 Airsoft Grenades

The Issue

On November 2, 2023, the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) released a letter stating:

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has rescinded the exemptions for certain consumer-style grenades (e.g., flashbang grenades, smoke grenades) as they have been determined by ATF to pose a risk to public safety. The purpose of this letter is to provide guidance on the requirements for these explosive devices that ATF previously exempted as special explosive devices (SEDs) pursuant to the regulation at 27 CFR § 555.32.

Apparently, the ATF's objection is EG's "proprietary explosive", and they would be "fine" if the company used black powder.

Enola Gaye EG67 grenades have been widely used within the airsoft community for recreational purposes, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for players.  These products are explicitly designed for airsoft activities and do not pose the same risks as actual firearms or explosives.  The ban not only affects responsible airsoft players but also impacts local businesses that rely on the sale of these products.

While public safety and regulation is important, here is a need for a more nuanced approach that considers the distinctions between actual weapons and airsoft equipment.  Enola Gaye has a strong track record of ensuring their products comply with safety standards and regulations, and these "grenades" make no more of a bang than a large firecracker.

Signing this petition is to advocate for a reconsideration of the ATF's decision on Enola Gaye EG67 airsoft grenades, wire pull paint grenades (for use in paintball), and EG18X smoke signals.  A collaborative approach involving stakeholders from the airsoft community, industry experts, and regulatory agencies could help establish guidelines that balance the interests of public safety and recreational enthusiasts.

Please sign and share this petition, and contact your congressional representative to help the national airsoft community fight this.
