Reverse Tennessee's ban on hemp products

Reverse Tennessee's ban on hemp products
The Issue
My name is Kristi Madore, and I'm a veteran living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Like many veterans, I have dedicated my life to serving our country, and now I struggle with the complexities of a chronic condition that significantly impacts my quality of life. In seeking solace and relief from the relentless symptoms of MS, I have found medical cannabis to be an effective treatment that affords me some measure of comfort and normalcy.
However, the state of Tennessee has recently enacted a ban on hemp products, directly contradicting the reclassification of cannabis under the Trump administration. This ban is not just an abstraction — it has real, detrimental impacts on people like me. Veterans Affairs is now permitted to prescribe cannabis, recognizing its medical efficacy, yet Tennessee's new law strips away my ability to access the essential care I need.
Under the 14th Amendment, every citizen has the right to equal protection under the law. This includes veterans like myself who rely on cannabis for medical purposes. By denying access to these healthcare solutions, Tennessee's legislation directly contradicts federal reclassification efforts and violates our constitutional rights.
The issue here is not just about access to medical cannabis; it's about respecting our rights, our service, and our well-being. Tennessee's restrictions limit our options to manage our health and contravene progress made by federal regulations to reclassify cannabis products.
I urge the Tennessee state government to reverse this ban and align with federal standards, allowing veterans and other patients to access medically necessary hemp-based products without fear of legal repercussions. I am seeking assistance from constitutional attorneys and advocates to champion this critical cause and restore equal treatment under the law for all citizens.
It's time for Tennessee to honor its veterans and patients alike by providing access to proven treatments without unnecessary legal barriers. Please join me in demanding that Tennessee respect our rights by overturning its ban on hemp products. Sign this petition and let's advocate for a compassionate, just, and fair healthcare opportunity for all citizens.
