On 11 August 2025, the Hon’ble Rajasthan High Court directed the removal of all stray dogs from city streets across the state. This order, if executed, will result in the displacement, suffering, and likely death of thousands of harmless community dogs — many of whom are vaccinated, sterilized, and loved by residents.

We, the citizens of Rajasthan, believe this order is:

Cruel & Ineffective: Relocation disrupts sterilisation programs and creates space for new, unvaccinated dogs to enter the area.

Against the Law: The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2023, mandate sterilization and vaccination, not mass removal.
A Public Health Risk: Relocation increases dog-human conflicts in new areas and may reverse rabies control progress.

We demand:

Immediate stay on the High Court’s order.

Continuation of ABC sterilization & vaccination programs.
Community monitoring and feeding zones to ensure safety for both humans and animals.
Strict action against cruelty during enforcement.

Our streets are shared spaces. These animals have the right to live, and we have the duty to protect them.
