Reverse Pitshanger Lane Parking Restrictions

The Issue

The Pitshanger Community Association is petitioning Ealing Council to reverse their new parking restrictions enforced on Pitshanger Lane, Ealing W5.

Since their implementation they have caused not only great confusion, wrongly issued tickets and chaos on the side roads but have had a hugely negatively and detrimental affect on our local, independent businesses.

Footfall has almost halved since the restrictions came into effect, plunging an already struggling High Street into even greater difficulty.

Local High Streets should be a convenience for shoppers, both local and from outside the area, looking for a more personal experience.  The council's decisions are increasingly pushing people towards supermarkets with car parks and away from these independent businesses who are fighting to survive.

Our elderly residents and those without smart phones continually struggle with the new rules and many have given up visiting the Lane.  The Council's argument that the scheme works well in the likes of Northfields and Ealing Broadway is null and void as these places have tube station access as well as bus routes, we do not have a tube station!

A full public consultation on the proposals was rejected solidly by residents but the Council went ahead regardless, showing a complete lack of consideration for democracy.

We demand that the results of the consultation be put into practice and these new restrictions retracted.
