The continued pausing of Live ensemble playing will have repercussions for music programs for many years to come!! By canceling band this past year there is already a full year of students who have not received music education in school, coupled with the shut down in March of 2020 students going into grade 11  this year have only had 6 months of secondary school instruction.  If the TDSB continues with their current plan of no ensemble playing in school there will be an entire generation of high school students with no ensemble instruction by next fall.  Given that students make their elective choices in February, no one is likely to choose music for next year if they don't play from the fall of this year!  Being a grade 12 student this is impacting my decision as to what I can pursue at university!  

It is time for the TDSB to get behind the science and realize that band can be done safely! As the largest school board in Ontario, if not Canada, many other boards will follow the lead of the TDSB.  As a society we risk losing music completely!
