Return Imprinted Jackdaws Blaze & Marley to Their Family

The Issue

Blaze & Marley aren’t just birds – they are our family.

Rescued at just two days old, I hand-fed them every 20 minutes, day and night, for weeks, keeping them alive when they were too small to survive alone. They imprinted on me, my partner, and my young child – they know no other family and depend entirely on us for their safety and wellbeing.

On 8th September, our lives were shattered when the RSPCA, working with Devon & Cornwall Police, unlawfully seized Blaze & Marley. They were taken in panic, ripped away from their bonded family, with no welfare plan, no lawful justification, and no updates provided since.

This action breaches:

The Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 – which clearly provides lawful defence for tending to an injured or dependent wild bird.
The Animal Welfare Act 2006 – which requires animals to be protected from unnecessary stress and harm.
The Human Rights Act 1998 – protecting family and private life.

By tearing Blaze & Marley from the only family they know, the RSPCA has not protected welfare – it has caused cruelty.

We are demanding:

The immediate return of Blaze & Marley to their home.
Accountability from the RSPCA and Devon & Cornwall Police for their unlawful actions.
Reform of rescue and rehabilitation rules, so imprinted rescues are protected under the law and families are not subjected to this trauma again.

No family should ever have to endure this pain. No animal should be driven into fear, stress and confusion by those claiming to protect them.

Your signature can reunite Blaze & Marley with their rightful family and send a message that this injustice will not be tolerated. Together, we can fight for change and prevent this from happening again.
