A retrial date for Molly and Tom Martens accused of murdering Jason Corbett remains unknown over a year after they were freed pending a retrial.

After a preliminary administrative hearing in March 2022 inside the same Davidson County courtroom where the two were convicted of murder and sentenced to 25 years five years ago, no date has yet been set for the retrial.

One year after the North Carolina Supreme Court upheld a decision to overturn Molly and Thomas Martens’ convictions on second-degree murder charges, both appeared before Judge David Hall, who is expected to preside over a new trial. Prosecutors in Davidson County are planning to retry Jason Corbett’s wife and her father and now await a second hearing set for the week of May 23ed.

Both Martens are free on a $200,000 bond.

Dozens of friends and family members of Jason Corbett filed into the courtroom in March 22, including Jason’s two children, Jack ( 17) and Sarah (15). The were just 8 and 10 when they were orphaned after their father was savagely beaten to death with a brick and a baseball bat while they slept in an upstairs bedroom.

Please sign this petition to encourage a retrial and let the Corbett family and Jasons children find some peace and justice.
