Retrial for Molly and Tom Martens!

Retrial for Molly and Tom Martens!
Why this petition matters
On August 2nd, 2015 Jason Corbett was bludgeoned to death in Davidson County, North Carolina at the hands of his wife, Molly Martens and her father, Tom Martens.
During a lengthy trial in August' 2017, both were found guilty of second degree murder and sentenced to 20-25 years in prison. In 2021, both were granted a retrial based on evidentiary issues and are now walking free pending a retrial. The date has not been set a year later.
The basis of the retrial was down to:
1) A technicality on the testing of blood on Tom Marten's shorts which could have been easily resolved.
2) The children’s statements conducted whilst in the custody of the Martens family.
Not only did the Children recant these statements They also offered new and compelling evidence against Molly, which was corroborated by their counsellor in Ireland.
The Corbetts have fought relentlessly to protect Jason's two young children from the trauma of a social media campaign instigated by friends and family members of the Martens family as well as fought to clear their beloved brother and sons name from the relentless and volatile lies been circulated all over social media by members of the Martens family labelling him an abuser.
It's clear based on the evidence presented in court by the paramedics, blood spatter expert, medical examiner as well as law enforcement personnel and family members and neighbours that this was a clear case of murder!
As Justice Paul Newby said, the evidence against Molly and Tom Martens is "overwhelming".
As Special Prosecutor for the Attorney General, Mike Dodd stated: this case met all seven stipulations to be tried under NC law as a first degree murder charge.
To add further trauma to the Corbett family, a plea deal concern adds further pain to a family still grieving the loss of a loved one. They want justice in a court of law. Two children were orphaned and will never see their father again. Birthdays, weddings, christmas, sporting events etc are viscerally difficult to these children who've had their entire lives ripped apart by the two people they trusted.
Help fight injustices and discourage any plea deals being made by signing this petition so that the Corbett family get a retrial date and the justice they are entitled to!
