Retain Ms. Jeanette Lang as Principal of McKee Public School
The Issue
As parents, guardians, and caregivers of the students at McKee Public School (McKee PS), we are deeply troubled by the announced transfer of our beloved Principal, Ms. Jeanette Lang, effective August 20, 2026.
Ms. Lang has been the cornerstone of our school's excellence since she assumed the principal role in 2017. Her nearly decade-long tenure has been marked by extraordinary leadership, dedication to her staff and students, and love for our school community.
During turbulent times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Lang led with integrity and compassion, ensuring the safety and academic progress of our children. She has earned the trust of students, families, staff, and her fellow administrators.
Our children thrive under her consistent and familiar leadership. Research conducted by the Ontario Principals' Council confirms that principal turnover often results in reduced student outcomes, increased teacher turnover, and a decline in the overall school climate. Ms. Lang's premature transfer, with retirement looming, poses a risk to the stability and continuity our children need to excel.
We recognize the need for such policy decisions, but we urge the authorities to reconsider this move based on Ms. Lang's exceptional track record and the unique circumstances of her nearing retirement. Allowing her to continue her service at McKee PS until her planned retirement will ensure no disruption to the positive momentum she has helped build.
We respectfully call upon the Toronto District School Board and relevant authorities to intervene and retain Ms. Jeanette Lang as Principal of McKee Public School.
Please sign this petition to ensure that our students continue to benefit from Ms. Lang's leadership through the end of her career. Your support is vital in maintaining the excellence and stability at McKee Public School for our children.
