The Issue

Coach DeBolt is someone I’ve known since my freshman year of track at Naperville North. From the beginning, he was more than just a coach to me. He believed in me and always took the time to help me improve, whether it was fixing my block start before a race or helping me maintain a positive mindset after a bad performance. Over time, he became someone I could really look up to, considering him like another father figure. When I was struggling in school or frustrated with track, he was always there to talk and help me figure things out. He didn’t just care about how we did on the track he cares about us as people and wants us to succeed in life. I know I’m not the only student who feels this way. So many athletes and students at Naperville North have been helped and encouraged by Coach DeBolt. He pushes us to work hard, be respectful, and never give up. That’s why it’s really hard to hear that he might lose his job because of a Reduction in Force. Losing Coach DeBolt would be a huge loss for our team and our school. Coaches like him are rare, never given recognition, and the impact they have on students goes far beyond sports, it goes to the heart. Coach DeBolt truly cares about his athletes and students. He spends extra time helping us improve, supporting us when things are tough, and making sure we believe in ourselves. Please reconsider any decision that would remove Coach DeBolt from our school. He means so much to so many students, and Naperville North would not be the same without him. By signing this petition, you’re helping show how important Coach DeBolt is to our school and community
