Restructure Our Monetary System to be Sustainable, Not Growth Dependent

The Issue

Most of the world's pollution woes stem from consumption, not overpopulation.  The problem is the rich countries who consume like there is no tomorrow.  The US for instance uses 20 million barrels of crude oil a day; most other countries use less than 2 million.

This need for consumption stems from our monetary system.  By using currency which is borrowed on interest to create value means that we MUST maintain an exponential growth curve, which is obviously impossible.

By restructuring our monetary system to one that is not debt and interest driven, sustainable business practices would be given the economic incentive they need to succeed.

We could then possibly take a second look at ourselves as Americans and learn to do without.  If we could do without driving one person to a car everywhere we go and stop buying single serving items, maybe we could eliminate the mountains of garbage springing up all over the world, or the island of trash floating in the Atlantic ocean, or the climate change which we are producing as we complain about it.
