Restrict Guns to Save America

Restrict Guns to Save America
The Issue
- On May 14th, 2022, A shooting at a supermarket in New York left 10 people dead and three injured.
- On May 24th, 2022, A shooting an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, killed 21 people and injured 17 - primarily children.
- On July 4th, 2022, Shootings in Highland Park, Illinois, Philadelphia, PA, and Orlando, Florida caused over 20 deaths.
- On June 1st, A shooting at a hospital in Oklahoma left 4 people injured and one person dead.
- On April 20th, 2022, A shooting at a home in Minnesota left 6 people dead.
And the list doesn't stop there. According to the Washington Post, there has been over 300 mass shootings in 2022 so far, at not even 200 days into the year. Approximately every week, 11 mass shootings occur all across the nation. Not a single week has passed without at least four mass shootings. For example, In July 2022, 18 mass shootings have occurred, and it is only July 6th. Isn't that too much? We no longer feel safe anymore doing basic errands or going to parades or even going to the hospital - all places that we SHOULD feel safe. Mass shootings have killed 343 people and injured 1,391 people so far in 2022 from January to July 4th.
So you may be wondering - If I sign this petition, how can I help reduce gun violence? If you sign this petition, you spread awareness to the media that this is an issue that as of now, seems like it can't be stopped. The government is so focused on things such as Same-sex and interracial marriages, and abortion laws that they are insensitive to the fact that gun laws are affecting America and it's ability to become a better place. I'm hoping to reach endless amounts of people, who share the same beliefs as me that gun violence is reaching an extreme. I'm calling on president Biden, VP Kamala Harris, and the people of the branches of government to make a change for better.
