RESTORING TRADITION TO THE CLASS OF 2026 GRADUATION

The Issue

We, the undersigned parents and family members, are writing to formally express our opposition to the current restrictions placed on the upcoming graduation ceremony.

Graduation is a culmination of 18 years of dedication, and the current "no applause" and "no sign" policies significantly diminish the significance of this milestone. We find these rules to be an unnecessary restriction on family expression, especially given the existing limitations on guest attendance.

We are requesting the following immediate changes to the ceremony protocol:

Removal of the Silence Mandate: Families must be allowed to cheer and applaud as their graduate’s name is called. This is a moment of earned celebration that cannot be replaced.

Allowance of Support Signs: Families should be permitted to display signs of support while their specific student is crossing the stage. This visual recognition is a vital part of the tradition and does not disrupt the ceremony when managed respectfully.

Closing Statement:

We believe that a graduation should reflect the pride and energy of the community it serves. We ask that the administration trust us to celebrate our children with the dignity and enthusiasm they deserve. We look forward to a ceremony that honors both the students’ achievements and the families who supported them.
