I am an avid user of Uber Eats. However, since COVID-19 struck, my experiences have been nothing short of appalling due to the removal of phone customer service. Now, when there's an issue, all I get is an automated computer response, which is scripted and impersonal.
This is not a unique experience; numerous customers are also frustrated with this shift to automated responses. Customers should not be left bearing the brunt of the restaurant's mistakes. Communication is absolutely essential in setting things right when an issue occurs. Without it, we can't hope to resolve our problems promptly and efficiently.
A 2020 survey by Microsoft revealed that 90% of customers expect an "immediate" response when they have a customer service question. Immediate, yes. Scripted and detached? Absolutely not. We deserve better. The size or status of a company shouldn't deprive us of basic customer rights.
