Restore Pete Rose's Eligibility for the Baseball Hall of Fame

The Issue

I have been a fan of the Cincinnati Reds since I was six years old, and my admiration for Pete Rose, arguably the heart of the team and one of the all-time greats, is immeasurable. He was a man who loved baseball beyond measure and flourished in the game, achieving legendary status with his career. A man who learned valuable life lessons from his missteps. His passing was a significant blow, only made more painful when I realized that the change in his ban from lifetime to permanent would mean he could never enter the Hall of Fame, even posthumously.

Pete Rose, with 4,256 career hits, remains the all-time MLB hit leader. It is unjust to permanently erase the acknowledgement of his contributions to the sport due to past mistakes for which he was already penalized during his lifetime. According to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Smithsonian Institution, "The Honor Rolls of Baseball" were established to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the game, regardless of prior judgements they might have encountered.

We are calling on the MLB commissioner and the National Baseball Hall of Fame to reevaluate this harsh and unfair policy. Let's ensure that our baseball heroes can be honored for their achievements on the field. Pete Rose's exceptional career should be celebrated, his love for the game remembered, and his wrongs forgiven. It's time we gave Pete the recognition he rightly deserves. Please sign this petition and join me in calling for Pete Rose's eligibility for the Baseball Hall of Fame to be restored.
