Restore Personal Autonomy: Abolish Smart Pass System at River Falls High School
The Issue
As a RFHS student, I am deeply troubled by the infringement on our basic human rights caused by the implementation of the smart pass system. This petition aims to raise awareness and advocate for the abolition of this intrusive system, which restricts our right to attend to our own bodies.
I have personally experienced the detrimental effects of the smart pass system on my daily life. Like many others, I understand that staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining good health and overall well-being. However, when restrictions are placed on how often we can use the bathroom, it not only compromises our physical comfort but also hampers our ability to fulfill our body's natural needs.
Not only this, but for women, there are times they may need to use the restroom without warning. There is no option to plan certain occurrences within your own body. Providing women with the freedom to use restrooms when needed helps promote their overall well-being and ensures that they can manage their menstrual hygiene with dignity and comfort. It's essential to create inclusive spaces that support women's health as well as ensuring equal access to facilities for everyone.
The smart pass system has created an environment where individuals are constantly under surveillance and subjected to unnecessary limitations. It is disheartening that such a basic necessity as attending to one's own body has been regulated and controlled by external forces.
Facts and Statistics:
1. According to medical professionals at reputable institutions like Mayo Clinic and WebMD, drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day is essential for proper hydration.
2. The average person needs approximately 8 cups (64 ounces) of water per day.
3. Restricting access to bathrooms can lead to various health issues such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney problems, constipation, discomfort, and decreased productivity.
4. Studies have shown that prolonged holding in urine or delaying bowel movements can increase the risk of developing bladder or colorectal diseases.
By signing this petition, we urge those in authority responsible for implementing or enforcing such restrictive measures within educational institutions to reconsider their actions immediately. We demand a return to personal autonomy regarding our bodily functions, free from unnecessary regulations and surveillance.
Together, let us reclaim our fundamental rights and restore the dignity of individuals by abolishing the smart pass system. Join me in signing this petition to ensure that everyone can attend to their own body's natural needs without interference or restriction.
Thank you.
