Petition updateRestore Peach Orchard ParkTough Questions for the Council!
Restore Peach OrchardCanada
Jul 21, 2024

1.      What makes Peach Orchard Park appropriate for a fenced dog park?

2.      Is a fenced dog park a good idea in a park with existing activities such as             playgrounds, a water park, a riparian zone, and a residential area?

3.      What is the classification of Peach Orchard Park? Is it classified as an environmentally sensitive area?

4.      Who owns the land?

5.      Is the decision for a permanent dog park approved by the province?

6.      Is it approved by the Indian Band?

7.      Has an environmental study been completed?

8.      Why do we need a second fenced dog park when we already have one at Dale Meadows and Peach Orchard Park already has a swimming beach?

9.      What will be the cost for the dog park?

10.  What will be the ongoing costs for maintenance of the dog park (e.g., irrigation, topsoil, seeding the grass, staff time)? Note that cost of irrigation was not included in the original budget projections.

11.  What will be the cost for the park features?

12.  What are the hidden costs (such as need for added parking)?

13.  What is the long-term impact of the dog park on the environment?

14.  What will happen when the park floods? What will be the cost to repair it?

If you are just as concerned as we are, please email your questions to the District of Summerland.
