Public support to restore metal detecting in New Orleans City Park continues to grow, with our petition now exceeding 200 signatures!

We received encouraging news from a supporter who spoke with Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser on June 9.  She reported that Lieutenant Governor Nungesser was unaware of the sudden ban on metal detecting by City Park officials and told her he would investigate the matter and provide her a response. This is precisely the kind of engagement we hoped for.

We are now preparing to contact media outlets to raise public awareness and generate broader support for our cause. If you know anyone who might be interested in helping to publicize this issue, please reach out to me.

Whether or not you personally detect in New Orleans City Park is insignificant. But the inexplicable ban on metal detecting activities by New Orleans City Park officials, coupled with their silence in response to our inquiries, sets a concerning precedent for public spaces nationwide. This could easily happen in other parks across the country, and we must reverse this trend now. We deserve a seat at the table with decision-makers to discuss and resolve this, ultimately returning metal detecting to City Park. We are hopeful that the Lieutenant Governor's investigation will lead to a positive outcome.

Please continue to encourage your contacts to sign and promote the petition.

Thank you,

Mark Rayner
