Restore merit and accountability to PISD clinical rotations

The Issue

In recent times, many of us have felt the sting of disappointment and frustration when it comes to the clinical rotations within the Plano Independent School District (PISD). We've invested countless hours, energy, and resources into meeting academic requirements, only to discover that our chances of securing meaningful clinical experiences are determined by a random lottery system. This isn't just about one person but about everyone impacted by this sudden shift in Career and Technical Education (CTE) admission policy. It feels as though the dedication and hard work we have put in are being overlooked, and our future aspirations jeopardized.

The current system not only dismisses the academic effort of students, but it also threatens to undermine our vital partnerships with esteemed medical institutions. These relationships are built on trust, quality, and the assurance that we are sending candidates prepared and qualified for the challenging environments they will face. Yet, with a random lottery system, we risk sending the message that merit and preparation are secondary to chance.

What? Ask PISD to implement a Qualified Lottery system instead. This would ensure that while students are chosen for rotations without discrimination, those who have met specific academic benchmarks and prerequisites stand a better chance of being rewarded for their hard work. This system would preserve the integrity of our program, maintain the trust of our medical partners, and most importantly, inspire students to strive for excellence knowing that their efforts will lead to opportunities.

We believe in a system that rewards dedication and respects every student's ambition. By signing this petition, you join us in advocating for a fairer, more accountable process that acknowledges and fosters the hard-earned qualifications of PISD students. Let's work together to ensure a brighter future for our aspiring healthcare professionals. Sign this petition to urge PISD to re-evaluate and restore fairness in their clinical rotation assignments.
